Border Collie bitches

A wonderful day that I had been looking forward to, thank you for bringing your lovely bitches for me to judge. It was an honour to judge them. Thanks must also go to Ann Hutchinson & the delightful gentleman who name escapes me (sorry). Their able efficient stewarding meant I could concentrate on the judging.

V (32,7a) This was a wonderful class of ‘golden oldies’ & some that had just slipped into the age classification. A pleasure to judge & I enjoyed meeting many old friends again.

1 Tunnicliffe’s Sh Ch Littlethorn Xsara, superbly handled this delightful bitch showed them how to do it, her condition was a credit to her owners, her movement was fluid & effortless & she could have run all day;

2 Gifford’s Sh Ch Tonkory Night Cap, another bitch with the same construction & condition, she flowed around the ring, attentive & responsive & could have gone all day. Credit to her owners for keeping her in such good condition;

3 Spencer’s Sh Ch Wizaland Whispering Frost at Jenwisp, this lovely girl completed my trio. Super construction & good condition meant that she was still moving soundly & true.

P (17,3)

1 Austin’s Bordertime Andante at Mysteps, b/w, this little bitch at 10 months is superbly constructed & she was still showing at the end of a long day to take BP, this was helped by sympathetic & capable handling;

2 Venn Of Fox’s Maraje Crème De La Crème, b/w, another baby at 11 months who took the big day in her stride, good shoulders & turn of stifle showed in the fluid movement. Just preferred the head of 1, small details but could change in the future as they mature;

3 Hamilton’s Kiamingues Reddy My Girl, r/w, lovely shape & nice dark r/w. Eyes could be a little darker but again these can darken as she grows older. Quietly & sympathetically handled to show her at her best & she trotted around as is she owned the ring.

J (19,3)

1 Barron & Jenkin’s Rannaleroch Strathcarron, bl/w, lovely shape for one so young, good shoulders & turn of stifle, moved with purpose. She could be a little naughty & flew her tail now & again but this was youth & the majority of the time she moved with it down. Deserved this place in a class of excellent bitches;

2 Gaylard & Turner’s Kaeleon Showbiz, b/w, this bitch had a super forward reach & muscles of steel which showed in her effortless movement, could have run all day. Because of her working ability, she sometimes forgot to run in a straight line, minor details but at this level paid the penalty;

3 Hunt’s Bryning True Romance, b/w, of a slighter build that the first two in this class but super condition & it showed in her movement around the ring.

Y (26,2)

1 Beaumont’s Borderbeau Rubalite, b/w, have watched this one growing up from the ringside since she came out. Did not disappoint when I had the privilege of going over her. Super construction, good shoulders & turn of stifle, handled to perfection. Earnt first place in a strong class of youngsters that bode well for the future of our breed;

2 Large & Harlow’s Wizaland Jingle And The Way, b/w, super bitch who was lovely to go over, construction first class & although a little unsure of herself at times, on the move soon settled & showed herself to perfection;

3 Vitali’s Borderfame Known Byheart, another lovely bitch to make up the trio. She was handled to perfection & presentation was superb. Another who could have ran all day.

UG (19,2)

1 Scott’s Lydeardlea Buttons And Bows of Belsmard, b/w, pricked eared dainty bitch, super shoulders but a little straight in the stifle. Moved in tune with her handler & ran as if she could go all day;

2 Preiss’ Wizaland Lady Of Lorien at Anadune, b/w, different type to 1, a little longer in the body but good shoulders & turn of stifle. Not as easy going in her movement, her mind was not always on what she was doing, but did enough to show me she could if she wanted to;

3 Tydeman & Amos’ Karingal Moon Daisy, bl/w, sadly left her coat at home but what she had shone. Good shoulders & turn of stifle completed the picture. Another who moved well when she concentrated on the job in hand.

G (13,2)

1 Flanders’ Cashinie Scarlet Dreams, super r/w in good hard condition, another who didn’t think she needed a full coat but again what she had shone as if it had been polished. Well put together & handled to perfection to bring out her good points;

2 Verhey’s Daisy Shepherd’s Dream, b/w, same hard condition & coupled with good construction enabled this little girl to power around the ring in tune with her handler, very well presented & handled;

3 Venn & Fox’s Miranwiz Bossy Boots, b/w, would love to see this one again with her coat on. What she had gleamed & shone in the lights, she powered around the ring showing off her superb condition.

PG (18,6)

1 Hartfield’s Tamarsh Miss You Nights at Moshanta, super bitch to go over, nicely angulated at rear, good shoulders, in full coat & beautifully presented, moved as her construction dictated & ran as if she could have gone all day;

2 Spencer’s Wizaland Ebony Jade, pressed 1 close, same comments apply to her. Another day the positions could have been reversed. A lovely duo of bitches;

3 Down & Forster-Cooper’s Sheltysham Shapeable, the owner was unable to finish the running of her bitch & Josie Large took over, this was good sportsmanship of the highest magnitude. Once she had settled, the little girl showed her true paces & between the two of them, she earned this place on merit.

ML (18,2)

1 Turner’s Littlethorn Sapphire, watched this one move up & through the classes & have admired form the ringside, did not disappoint on closer inspection. Super lay of shoulder & length of upper arm, good angulation at the rear, superbly handled & showed herself off well, moved round the ring like a train on well-oiled tracks, a joy to watch;

2 Gaylard’s Locheil Nordic Light over Kaeleon, super bitch with sound construction, good shoulders & well angulated stifles. Both these bitches had muscles of steel & were no couch potatoes. Another who was a joy to watch as she again could have run all day;

3 Beaumont’s Locheil First To Finnish at Borderbeau, lovely bitch, half sister to 2. Well put together & well presented & completely in tune with her handler, could have run all day.

 L (29,6) 1 Stacey’s Madeleys Posh Spice, b/w/t, wonderful things come in little packages, beautifully put together & standing as if she owned the world, when she moved it was like watching poetry in motion & she could have run all day, delightful;

2 Wilkinson’s Altricia Willow, she was a little upset by the camera flashes & because she was such a lovely picture, probably attracted more than her fair share of attention. Lovely to go over, well constructed & beautifully presented. When she settled & the flashes ceased, she moved well & earned her place in this strong class;

3 James’ Threjays Ffion Isds, honest straight forward no nonsense old fashioned Border Collie, beautiful & as sound as a bell, moved true around the ring & was a joy to behold, could have gone all day.

O (29,6) This class was a joy to look around & see all these wonderful bitches, a thrill & thank you.

1 Large, Harlow & Fitzgerald’s Sh Ch/Am Ch Borderfame Gift Of Love, when I did my first walk around I muttered a ‘wow’ under my breath as I looked at this beautiful girl, have watched her grow up & thought she was a nice girl but that was that, then I put my hands on her & fell in love, the Standard was under my hands. Lovely oval eyes, super neck into well laid shoulders, rear angulation superb, the presentation was of the best, not a hiar out of place, then she moved & the picture was complete. CC;

2 Russell’s Locheil Playing The Game at Tuffeigha, another one I have watched growing up, another one out the top drawer, super construction & movement to match. Like wine she is improving with age, well handled & presented. RCC;

 3 Turner’s Lethans Future Focus, one I have watched over the years, lovely bitch in complete harmony with her handler, superb construction & beautifully presented.

WT (5) This class just shows that our breed can have brains as well as beauty. These girls could have held their own in any class.

1 Owens Poole’s Ir Ch Fircroft Dalwinnie Cdex Udex Wdex, she has muscles of steel, beautiful coat & well presented, moved with a lovely free action around the ring & said ‘watch me’;

2 James’ Tytri Kay Cdex Udex Wdex Tdex, the depth of chest of this one was tremendous, all the room needed for the heart & lungs, moved out well & once settled to her new game of showing with her sympathetic handler she owned her paces, another with muscles of steel;

3 Tiller’s Foxbarton That’s Jazz Cdex Udex, an old favourite who still moves like still moves like a youngster. A tribute to her owner that she is as good now as when I judged her as a junior.

GC (21)

1 Tydeman’s Karingal Kiri Te Kanawa, super bitch with brains as well as beauty, showed & moved out well, handled to perfection as always;

2 Tiller’s Foxbarton Layd In Waiting, left her clothes at home after maternal duties but is now coming back, what she had shone, moved around the ring as if she owned it;

3 L Buttons And Bows of B, brains as well as beauty.
